Our Lady Help of Christians Parish Strengthens Faith and Community Bonds

The Youth Luau and National Family Week brought the community together for moments of prayer, fellowship, formation, and sharing

Youth Luau Brings the Community Together for an Evening of Faith and Celebration

Our Lady Help of Christians Parish in Guadalajara, Paudalho (PE), held “Youth Luau” on August 29—an evening designed to bring the community together around faith, music, and fellowship.

The event was organized by the group “Jovens Filhos de Auxiliadora” (Young Sons and Daughters of Our Lady Help of Christians)  in partnership with the parish vicar, Fr. José Soares. Held in the outdoor area of the parish church, the gathering included the participation of community groups and ministries, which contributed to a joyful and welcoming evening.

Amid moments of praise, prayer, and fellowship, the Youth Luau fostered camaraderie among participants and brought different groups within parish life closer together.

The program concluded with the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, led by Fr. José Soares, in a moment of adoration and surrender.

National Family Week Promotes Sharing and Reflection

During the month of August, the parish also participated in National Family Week, centered on the theme “Family, become what you are” and the motto “Love never fails” (1 Cor 13:8).

The Family Ministry organized gatherings in the homes of families in the neighborhood, creating spaces for prayer, listening, formation, and fellowship. The reflections were based on the book “Family Time” and helped bring the community closer to the families supported by the parish.

Throughout the month, Tuesdays were dedicated to formation sessions at the parish, deepening reflection on the family vocation and the role of the family in Christian life.

The activities created opportunities for families to spend time together, share experiences, and find support within the community. National Family Week renewed the bonds of faith, presence, and care that sustain parish life.
