CECOIA promotes inclusion, health, and community through activities that strengthen care for others

Educational and sports activities foster empathy, well-being, and the holistic development of children and adolescents

Throughout the month of April, the Brother André Community Center (CECOIA) held a series of activities focused on the holistic development of those it serves, combining awareness, inclusion, and health promotion. In celebration of World Autism Awareness Day, children and adolescents participated in a special learning session on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), using accessible language and focusing on topics such as respect for differences, empathy, and coexistence. The program also included practical and recreational activities that reinforced the presented content and encouraged a more sensitive and welcoming perspective toward others, strengthening bonds and promoting the appreciation of diversity.

The month’s agenda also highlighted the importance of health and well-being, with activities marking World Physical Activity Day (April 6) and World Health Day (April 7). Through the Sports Workshop, participants engaged in experiences that reinforced the role of sports in quality of life, including activities held at the neighborhood sports field. The public space became an environment for socializing, learning, and a sense of belonging, encouraging the mindful use of the area and the strengthening of community ties. During the activities, values such as respect, cooperation, discipline, and teamwork were emphasized, reaffirming CECOIA’s commitment to an education that promotes holistic development, in line with the Mission of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
