PJC Professional Development Day: Care and the Mission to Educate Minds and Hearts

On September 25, 2026, the Jaguaré Caminhos Program held its Professional Development Day under the theme “A Legacy That Educates, a Future That Transforms: The Strength of Holy Cross Educators.”

The director of Mission, Murilo Botelho, led the prayer session, offering reflections on hope and the importance of caring for the mental health of every staff member. The program also featured a lecture by a psychologist partnering with Vida Max, who addressed the mental and emotional health of those working in vulnerable contexts and encouraged the use of the Psicologia Viva platform.

Throughout the day, educators participated in interactive activities, self-care exercises, and creative experiences, such as a movie screening with popcorn and reflection on the mission, clay modeling, auriculotherapy, and massage. As symbols of belonging, they received a pin in honor of Father Moreau and a bracelet bearing the message “We Are All Holy Cross.”

The event strengthened team bonds and reaffirmed that caring for those who educate is also part of the Holy Cross mission to educate minds and hearts.

The Jaguaré Caminhos Program (PJC) participated in the 45th Spring Feijoada at Colégio Santa Cruz, held on September 27, 2026, featuring performances by the Cultural and Vocational Training Center (CCP) and the Bom Jesus and Santa Cruz After-School Centers (CCA).

Through the “Caminhos pela Música” project, children and teens ages 6 to 18 from the CCP shared their talents in music and ballet performances. With guitar, violin, and music education, they presented a repertoire of Brazilian popular music to the audience. The CCA centers, meanwhile, celebrated Afro-Brazilian culture through percussion and capoeira.

The performances embodied the Holy Cross mission to educate minds and hearts, emphasizing holistic development, the active participation of children and adolescents, and cultural diversity. The event also strengthened the ties between the PJC and the Colégio Santa Cruz community.

Brother Ronaldo de Almeida and Brother Edson da Silva Pereira attended the event. We are immensely grateful to SAN, represented by Olivia Lessa and Manoela Andrade, and to Prof. Fábio Aidar for their hospitality and for giving our children and youth the opportunity to share their talents.
